A department is an area of specialization within a facility. Departments are differentiated from one another with specific rooms, staff, and equipment.
In Project Hospital, there are a total of thirteen departments to manage. There are also six player-made departments in the Steam workshop.

Pathology | Pathology department performs autopsies on patients who have passed away to determine the cause of death and then releases them to the funeral home. |

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) | ICU provides life support and continuous care for the most critical patients. |

General Surgery Department | General surgery provides a wide range of surgical procedures, mostly focused on abdominal organs. |
|
Internal Medicine Department | Internal medicine treats a wide range of diseases concerning internal organs as well as multi-system diseases. |
|
Orthopaedy | Various traumas and conditions involving the musculoskeletal system are threated by orthopaedics and traumatology. |
|
Cardiology | Cardiology deals with heart and artery diseases and conditions and also provides cardiac surgery. |
|
Neurology | Neurology department diagnoses and treats brain and spinal cord disorders in addition to providing neurosurgery services. |

Infectious Diseases | Infectious Diseases department is where people with rare or extremely contagious diseases go for treatment or isolation. |

Traumatology | Traumatology deals with those severely injured who arrive by helicopter as well as burns. |
